With so many varied and interesting things to do near Mansfield, OH, it’s the perfect time of year to try new experiences, connect with your community, and make the most of the weather. Here’s our list of some of the best spring activities in the area.

1. Spring Concert Youth Orchestra

If springtime makes you feel like bursting into song, indulge your musical side at the Youth Orchestra’s Spring Concerts on April 30 and May 7 at 3:30pm. Held in the elegance of the Renaissance Theatre at 138 Park Avenue West, these events showcase the talent of 75 of the most promising musicians in the state.

2. Ohio Civil War Show

A must-see for any military history buff, the Ohio Civil War Show will be held this spring at Richland County Fairground. With an artillery show and cannon firing, a field hospital simulation of a leg amputation, and fife and drum period music to transport you back in time, you’ll feel like an eyewitness to the American Civil War.  There are also collections of memorabilia, and plenty of items from WWI and WWII as well.
Immersive and fascinating, this event brings history to life, so pay a visit to 750 North Home Road on May 6 to 7 starting at 9:00am.

3. Malabar Farm State Park

If you can hear the outdoors calling you this spring, the Malabar Farm State Park will give you the chance to get closer to nature. The 900-acre estate of Louis Bromfield has a range of trails to hike. And with animals in the barn to visit, farm wagon rides, a spring plowing day on April 30, and a barn dance on June 3, you’ll be able to reconnect with your rustic roots. There’s also a farm and gift shop and several picnicking. Located at 4050 Bromfield Road in Lucas, the visitors’ center is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm Mondays to Fridays, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on the weekends.

4. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Spring can also be a time for thrills and spills, so pay a visit to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course if you want to get the adrenaline flowing. There are two courses, a 2.4-mile course with 15 turns, and a 2.25-mile course with 13 turns, with an exciting weekend events calendar running throughout the spring.
